WhatsApp Update New Feature magically disappears Which?

Although Facebook-owned WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging apps, it does not mean that WhatsApp does not have some features introduced by its competitors such as Telegram.

Although WhatsApp has all the features that a Messenger should have, including Status and Group Messages, it is obvious that some advanced features (for example, the Dark Mode feature) for most users are not yet incorporated.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp is incorporating many features without making noise when users are not provided with the expected features.

Aside from that, many features, including Fingerprint Unlock, Boomerang, Looped Videos, Proprietary QR Codes, and Animated Stickers, were found in WhatsApp beta versions - we want to mention here that everyone is tested on beta versions before they roll out.

As one of those features is expected to be launched on the WhatsApp public site, WhatsApp's Android Beta v2.19.275 version has a disappearing or expiring message.  It carries the name disappearing messages.

According to a report released by the notorious WABetaInfo site, the latest beta update for WhatsApp on Android (v2.19.275), a new feature is currently in the works.

It allows users to send messages that disappear from the chat after a certain period of time.

As shown in the screenshot below, this new feature can be found under Group Settings and the message sent automatically after a certain time interval will disappear.

When using this new feature, a pop-up window is displayed.  It gives you access to choose between the expiration time of the specified message, and the options to choose between 5 seconds or 1 hour. Once this feature is enabled, any messages sent to a particular WhatsApp group will be automatically removed after a specified time period.

When the delete for all feature is already in use, doesn't that leave a trace of the specific message being removed?  But it has been reported in the release that this disappearing message will leave no trace.

When is access available?

To date, this feature is in its early stages of development, which is not yet accessible to users.
